The Company:
Our client is a well-regarded main contractor currently engaged in the delivery of hotel, residential and commercial building projects across the Caribbean.
The Position:
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced Quantity Surveyor to work in the Caribbean. To help ensure the Group’s continued success they are looking to appoint an ambitious QS to help oversee their projects.
Responsibilities:
- Reviewing construction plans, preparing quantity take-offs, and assessing cost implications.
- Conducting cost analysis and preparing detailed cost estimates and budgets.
- Procuring subcontractors and suppliers, including tendering and contract negotiation.
- Managing and verifying subcontractor payments and valuations.
- Liaising with project managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure cost-effective project delivery.
- Preparing reports, contracts, risk assessments, and cost forecasts.
- Monitoring project variations, documenting changes in design, and updating budgets accordingly.
- Managing contractual claims, handling disputes, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining accurate records of progress and financial status of projects.
- Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Visiting construction sites to monitor progress and ensure cost control.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying.
- 5+ years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor working for Main Contractors.
- Current / Previous Caribbean or International experience is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Sound knowledge of construction.
- Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to organize, plan, and strategize.
- A valid driver's license.
- Great networking abilities.
This is an immediate role but the client is only interested in candidates who have demonstrated a clear career and want to work on a permanent basis.
