What does an Assistant Quantity Surveyor do?
As a Commercial / Project Assistant, you will be well supported by a team of Quantity Surveyors, Managers and Directors who will be on hand to learn from and ask questions to.
Your role will be supporting the surveying team with the Quantity Surveying process, this includes:
Pre-contract services
- Measuring
- Production of pricing (Bill of Quantities)
- Tendering – talking to suppliers to obtain estimates based on the measurements and quantities provided
Post-contract services
- Management and administering of sub-contractor payments
- Managing change or variations that occur throughout the process
- Tracking project spend
Final Accounts
- Assist with the production and agreement of accounts on projects worked on
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports as required
- Assist with the preparation of final accounts and claim documents
What skills and experience do you need?
- Whilst having experience in the quantity surveying industry would be beneficial, what’s important to us is your enthusiasm, reliability and commitment to your job and the business.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office particularly Excel is required, along with a high level of attention to detail and organisation.
- You will be dealing with suppliers, sub-contractors and clients so being able to communicate effectively and build working relationships is important.
