- Description
A well respected and established contractor with a £20 million turnover construction company currently have an opening for a Business Development Manager.
As a Business Development Manager working as part of the pre-construction team your responsibilities will include:
- Proactively develop and manage relationships with customers, consultants, and other project stakeholders to promote the Company’s good reputation.
- Maintain regular contact with key customers and consultants predominantly through meetings and phone calls.
- Obtain market intelligence and track future pricing opportunities with the objective of securing a place on tender lists, prioritising those schemes which most closely fit the Company’s target market.
- Gather intelligence on current pricing opportunities and feedback to Directors and work winning team members.
- Gather information from customers and consultants on selection questionnaire and tender submission performance to inform improvement of future submissions.
- Liaise with the Managing Director and Pre-Construction Director to agree which opportunities are to be pursued/declined.
- Assist with the process of managing secured frameworks, liaising with others within the Company as necessary, to ensure that opportunities under those frameworks are maximised.
- Ensure that Opportunity information on CRM is accurate and kept up to date, including post submission feedback received.
- Lead the delivery of the Company’s programme of marketing events.
- Keep abreast of developments in industry best practice and trends within the industry and disseminate information to others within the Company as appropriate.
- Support the Company’s commitment to sustainability.
The Candidate:
A strong candidate will ideally have:
- Embedded experience gained within a contracting organisation or related consultancy.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Can represent the Company in client meetings credibly and confidently.
- Good understanding of the legal framework for procurement of construction projects and the various procurement routes
- Friendly and approachable personality with ability to engage positively with a broad spectrum of people.
- Customer focused, with the ability to build strong lasting relationships with clients and teams.
- Sufficient technical construction knowledge to be able to engage with customers and consultants around project technical drivers.
