Description

Environmental Manager 

Location: NEOM, Saudi Arabia

Company: Facilities Management and Development Company

Role and Responsibilities:

The Environmental Manager will lead the development, implementation, and oversight of environmental policies and strategies for the Facilities Management (FM) department. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, promoting sustainable practices, and minimizing the environmental footprint of the facilities under management.

  • Develop and implement environmental management systems to monitor and improve environmental performance.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international environmental laws, regulations, and standards (such as ISO 14001).
  • Conduct environmental audits and assessments, identifying potential risks and ensuring corrective actions are taken.
  • Monitor and manage waste disposal, energy use, water conservation, and other resources to improve sustainability.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors and contractors to ensure their environmental practices align with company standards.
  • Collaborate with FM teams to implement eco-friendly solutions in building maintenance, repairs, and operations.
  • Prepare reports on environmental performance, trends, and improvements for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct training for staff on environmental awareness, compliance, and best practices.
  • Liaise with local authorities on environmental issues and obtain necessary permits and approvals.
  • Lead sustainability projects, such as energy efficiency programs, recycling initiatives, and green certifications.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of hands-on experience in environmental management, preferably within the FM sector.
  • Proficient in conducting environmental audits and managing compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Familiarity with sustainable facility management practices, including energy efficiency and waste management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certifications in environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001) are preferred.
  • Knowledge of local environmental regulations and sustainability best practices.
  • Environmental auditing skills for identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Proficiency in environmental management systems (EMS) for tracking and reporting performance.
  • Project management skills to implement sustainability initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with teams and regulatory authorities.
  • Problem-solving abilities to address environmental challenges effectively.
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency technologies to improve facility performance.
  • Knowledge of waste management techniques for sustainable facility operations.
